Leaning forward is so 20th century!
Just a friendly reminder about a handy but easily-overlooked day-to-day tool.
We all hate reading tiny printing on-screen, or having to lean in just to make out a detail on our brand new 4K monitor… But, next time you find yourself squinting, remember your computer’s built-in magnifier!
If you are on a PC with Windows, just hold the Windows key on your keyboard, and tap the Plus (+) symbol to quickly turn on Magnifier. Instant zoom! You can keep holding and tapping ‘+’ to zoom in more. (ex: hold the Windows symbol and then tap the ‘+’ on your keyboard’s numpad). And, to get back to normal, you can just close the Magnification tool’s pop-up window (or press the Windows key with Esc key).
Mac users can zoom in just as quickly by pressing the Control, Option, and ‘8’ keys together (easy to remember, since 8 looks like a pair of glasses!). Press the same combination again to return to normal. (Some users may need to enable zooming in System Preferences -> Accessibility -> Zoom.)
Even if you have 20-20 vision, the ability to zoom in quickly on a busy document or spreadsheet can be really handy, especially when talking with a colleague who can’t get as close to your screen.
Try it out! 🙂
